Meeting of January 24, 2008

Song: Ray Matheu – led us in a rousing, and timely, rendition of “I Don’t Give a [censored] for the Whole State of Maryland, I’m from the Eastern Shore”!

Head Table: None, as the only business before the Club this evening was eating, drinking and fellowship!!

Guests:  Many, many spouses and guests joined us this evening.  In the true spirit of fellowship, President Marion asked that each member introduce his or her guests to at least five fellow Rotarians during dinner.

Reminders: 

  • Don’t forget upcoming Valentine dinner “East of the Bay and West of the Ocean” on February 14th.       Cost per couple is $110.00. Bar, a choice of three entrees (Misty Know Chicken Breast or Szechwan Peppercorn Crusted Angus Beef or Pan Seared Halibut), as well as salad and dessert included with the fun!  See Bill Cropper for sign up.
  • Lee Whaley has proposed new member: Rita Lamb; classification – Higher Education.  Board has reviewed her application.  Please contact Steve Capelli with any questions or objections.

Program:  Oysters, Oysters, and more Oysters.  They came raw… they came steamed… they came frittered…and they kept coming!!  Along with them came delicious BBQ, and as much cold slaw, baked beans, and rolls as we could eat. 

Much appreciation for Simpson Dunahoo’s Special Events Committee and a standing ovation for Jock McNair’s great effort in organizing tonight’s dinner.  Also, THANKS to Whitey’s and their staff for a terrific job.
