Rotary International has proposed a rule change making the attendance requirement go from 60% to 50%. Meeting every other week failed. Our Board of Directors will consider the changes. Program – Although there was no “official” program on fellowship night, President Marion asked each of the members of the head table to talk about what special projects they were working on for the club: John Broyhill came up with the idea to reinstitute the head table again. He and an “A” team will be zeroing in on our Centennial celebration in 2020 with a great deal of compiling the history of our club and possibly publishing a book on it. He brought us down memory lane discussing Marvin C. Evans and Charles A. Truitt contributions and all the changes going on in Salisbury in 1920-1921 (the hospital, the college, the Wicomico Hotel and no supermarkets!). Simpson Dunahoo (“Mr. Fun”) outlined a fantastic year coming up for the club with planned special events. Highlights included July 19th Wine Tasting at Tom Shelton’s; August 23rd- Tangier Island Cruise ($45/pp); September 20th Golf Tournament (Pete Reddish) and back to the RSCC for a chicken barbeque; October 18th –Stover’s Oktoberfest; possible trip to Williamsburg, VA, a “Wild Game” night and much, much more. Stay tuned! Mark Glushakow reminded us of the big club raffle coming up in October, the Salisbury Festival and River Fest (Rotary booth) and a possible Texas Hold ‘em tournament coming up as a fund raiser. Also Steve Capelli updated us on the outcome of a recent Rotary Foundation Board meeting and was proud to announce that our debt load had been significantly reduced. This announcement, of course, was followed in true Rotary fashion with several members stepping up to the plate one more time to reduce our debt even further. 50/50: Gordon Gladden and Marie Calafiura each won $12.00. Enjoy Rotary! |
