Announcements: Past President (PP) Bob Brown is leading a team of PP George Vickers, Stan Morris and John Nicholson on a matching grant program between our club and Rotary District #2241, Club #69354, The Danubius Giurgiu Club of Romania to install a reverse osmosis water system, build a shed to house the system, put on a new roof, dry wall and other miscellaneous construction.  This is the first matching grant for our club in its 88-year history!  The team leaves June10-18. Items needed for our team before they go: checks ($$), computer, laptop, hygiene items, beanie babies, green tea, nuts, raisins, peanut butter, tooth brushes and tooth paste. This program truly demonstrates that “Rotary Shares” and “Service Above Self”.  Thanks for your leadership Brownie!

The Wicomico County Farm Bureau honored our own Jerry Truitt on Saturday, March 15 with a Service to Agriculture Award.  The Wicomico County Farm Bureau selects only one person annually  for the tribute.  A well deserved honor.

Two new members to our club proposed by Chuck Whitmore and approved by the Board: William Quinn,( former Rotarian (1981-87) and is a clinical psychotherapist) and Christine Quinn, Postmaster of the Salisbury office of the U.S. Postal Service.

Main Program: Ted Merrill and Bob Smith (former Salisbury Rotary Club Member, now out of Snow Hill) talked to us on Easter Seals Program.  They are going to all clubs in District 7630 to talk about the importance of this program and the importance of Camp Fairlee and what a fantastic facility it is. John Nichols and his crew built a 75-100’ bridge for wheel chairs and there are plans to build a 60’ high climbing wall.  A total of 44 out 351 recent campers there were from Wicomico County.  Easter Seals has serviced over 9.0 million adults with physical disabilities (cerebral palsy, MS, strokes, etc.).  It services 1 out of 5 families with disabilities across the U.S.  The program was started in 1907 by Edgar Allen from Ohio (who was a Rotarian himself!).  The services they provide include: Early Intervention (birth to 3 years)- individualized care, prepare for success; Rehabilitation (outpatient services)- Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapists, Speech/Language Therapists; Adult Health Services (24/7 Nurse and Staff- Georgetown); Adults with Developmental Disabilities Day services; Personal Attendant Services –training for day-to-day activities; Farmers with Disabilities; Recreation and Respite- Camp Fairlee Manor- High ropes, swimming, boating, fishing, arts and crafts, volleyball teams.  Work days with John Nichols on April 4 and 5 at Camp Fairlee for those interested.
