Join him and his team as they meet to place labels in 1345 dictionaries for distribution to Wicomico County third graders, November 14, 6:00 pm, Wicomico County Schools Warehouse (900 Mt. Hermon Road).

Program:        Gary Mackes introduced our program with a tribute to George Vickers, whose time, talent, and contributions made possible the fine World War II Memorial at the Wicomico County Civic Center.  It was his vision that assured that the Memorial was finished while there were are surviving WWII veterans to appreciate it.  George followed with a moving tribute to our veterans and service personnel, noting the common theme of service to country and service to community.  He urged all of us to remember not only the “old warriors”, but also today’s heroes who return from Iraq and other dangerous places in need of jobs, healthcare, and understanding.  Finally, in a fitting capstone to this special Veterans Day observance, he read the names of no fewer than TWENTY-SEVEN club members who are either veterans of past wars or who served regular or reserve duty.  There is another whose name he did not recite: his own.
